Lilium regale by Nick Turland

==============================

I've seen Lilium regale grown often in Crete, and it seems to grow
healthily, with large, trumpet-shaped, fragrant, white flowers. Also the
Madonna lily, L. candidum, does well. I guess many lilies come from summer
rainfall areas and don't take too kindly to the summer drought of medit
climates? Lilium regale is from Sichuan province, China, by the way. If
anyone's really into to lilies, check out the on-line Flora of China account
of them (55 of the approx. 115 species known) at:

http://hua.huh.harvard.edu/cgi-bin/Flora/flora.pl?FLORA_ID=11746&RANK_ID=125

type in "Lilium" into the search box (or whatever else takes your fancy). At
the moment there are no illustrations, but line drawings will be added later
this year, hopefully.
