i saw one of the more remarkable jacarandas in bud
last weekend in stinson beach, california, a block
from the pacific in marin county, 1 hour north of san
francisco. it bears gorgeous lichens, among them
usneas i believe, and the tree was virtually leafless
aside from the profuse flower buds. perhaps a list
member is responsible for the marvelous garden in
which said tree grows, filled with echeverias,
aeoniums, dicksonias, brahea edulis and phoenix
dacylifera. truly a magical site in a small foggy
beach town.
