Sounds like you should contact my friend Olivier Filippi, a nurseryman in the South of France, and sometimes participant in this group (though he tends to be very busy at times!). I've been recently going through his wonderful catalogue which lists pages and pages of plants from the Mediterranean Basin as well as other mediterranean climate regions. (My French, at least relating to plants, is improving daily!). They ship to your parts, I am sure. If you are ever over there (near Montpellier) it is worth a trip to the nursery to see their display garden! You can find out more via his web site - www.jardin-sec.com

Also you might wish to find out if there are other Mediterranean Garden Society members in your area. There are organized branches in Spain (Madrid, Balearics, and an affiliated group in Andalucia). Are you on the coast of Portugal? I'm actually curious to know more about your area - seems like if might be similar to our areas in California (both facing west, on oceans, etc.). I am in the San Francisco Bay Area, inside the bay from the Golden Gate.
