Hellebores

H. orientalis don't do well for me in my heavy soil but are lush and
floriferous in my Malibu friend's garden with sandy silt.

On the other hand, H. lividus corsicus grows to huge proportions and even
seeds itself on my unwatered hill.  H. foetidus does quite well too.
