Re: speaking of lavenders

Hi Pamela,

Greetings from the Algarve. Only 27'C (~80'F), but blue, blue sky and only one day with rain in the last two months. What are clouds?

I would love to be able to tell you when I prune but like so much with me it is not a very exact science. I do it after it has flowered which is in late summer, so I guess perhaps October. The second prune is in the Spring, perhaps March. It grows for me over the winter. I am sure that this second prune delays the flowering and reduces the number of flowers, but it does keep the plant looking well.

By the way can I apologise to everyone - I see I wrote "Lavendula" in stead of "Lavandula"...I am sure it grated with any Lavender enthusiasts.

Boa Sorte.

Lavendula dentata always looks well in my garden, and like David I find that it is best with two cuts each year. The year before last it only got one cut and grew leggy. I cut it back hard into quite old wood and it recovered quickly.

Boa Sorte.
