Some people may be more sensitive to it than others. One of my daughters-in-law is very allergic to nutmeg and also to cinnamon. She can't eat any amount of anything with either one. I think she is allergic to one other spice also but I can't recall at the moment which one.

If you consume 2 - 3 whole nutmegs on your own, sure you'll be in trouble, but generally, Nutmeg is used in very small amounts per person and in normal amounts you shouldn't see affects of toxicity. Not sure why anyone would want to try large amounts. It's not particularly pleasant tasting in high amounts.
