Re: Question of the day

How interesting!  Never heard of any complaints about S. leucantha before!

Any idea which ceanothus it is Barry?

Salvia leucantha - mostly because I didn't realize how wide it would spread and how woody the underground stems would get. Took a lot of effort to dig it out. The leaves also have an unpleasant grassy smell to them even if the flowers are great.

Also, I have a cultivar of creeping ceanothus that is rampant and has taken over a large area. I thought it wouldn't get as big as it is now and it's a little too big to remove without some sort of truck to haul it away.It also isn't even close to as floriferous as my lovely Ray Hartman Ceanothus that I adore.

Woke up thinking about this this morning - What do you regret planting in your garden (or someone else's) and why?
