There is one example in Mountain View as a street tree, no idea how it got planted as there aren't others. But it is thriving well and obviously only gets seasonal rain for irrigation.  I suspect that someone gave it extra care as it was getting established.

There is a blooming specimen of this tree in my neighborhood at the moment, which I've often admired.  I read that it can be fairly drought tolerant.  It certainly grows well in the SF Bay Area.  I wonder if some of you have experience with this handsome tree?
