Echiums

My plants of Echium handiense (3' x 3', blue flowers) self sows
nearly every month of the year. I have also noted this with the the more
common E. fastuosum. The dark black seeds are prolific and can be easily
collected from old flower stems (note, the stems at this stage are very
prickly, wear gloves).
Although I have now lost it I once grew E. albicans, a very lovely
silvery leafed Echium with gorgeous pink and bluish flowers. It grew only
on small rosette (8" across) and a flower to 12-15". When in flower I set
the plant on a flat filled with potting soil so that any seed could fall
onto the flat and germinate. I didn't want to take any chance on losing
even one seed as the plant was so beautiful.
