Lamium maculatum

Dear fellow medits: I'm am enjoying reading all the "gardening for
passersby/neighbors" contributions so much! Tim Longville's winter
garden in the bay windows sounds like an especially wonderful treat on
nasty days.

Anyway, I have some lamium planted as a ground cover in an area where it
gets morning sun and afternoon shade on the northwest side of the
house. It creeps and nestles at the toes of hydrangeas, hostas, and
leatherleaf ferns (rumohra andiantiformis). I have the "White Nancy"
form mostly, with a few of the predominantly green- leafed/silver midrib
thrown in for contrast. I have the same combo growing in a low wide pot
in a shady spot. The lamium in the pot looks wonderful. The lamium in
the ground looks rather bad. It's all rusty looking and has lots of
tiny wholes eaten in the leaves, but I don't know what is munching on
it. Whatever it is, it does not munch on the hostas, too, thank God.
Any ideas to help it look better? Thanks! Wendy
