too hot

Yesterday reached 112 degrees F. here (someone Celsius-literate can perhaps
make the conversion for me?).  Today's forecast is several degrees hotter;
last night cooled down to the 70's. While out watering this morning, I
broke a sweat at 7 a.m. and decided this would be a good day for a picnic in
the Cascade Mountains. So we'll pack up and head for Medicine Lake, a
lovely spot in the caldera of an old shield volcano at about 6000 ft. elev.
(roughly 2000m), with a pumice beach and surrounded by lodgepole pine (P.
contorta).
My Hemerocallis are getting sunburned, but some other plants are still
perky--"little mermaid' rose, Verbena bonariensis, Buddleias, and a stunning
Vitex agnus-castus tree in full flower. Another favorite is Hunnemania,
which I like better than our similar native California poppy (Eschscholtzia
cal.). The 'water willie' in our little pond (my young son's name for it)
keeps pumping out gorgeous flowers. Perovskia and Caryopteris are unfazed.
