I wanted to report that the young garden is doing well, with additions
settling in and showing no signs of transplant stress at all. Poppies from
Oregon have sprung up under the magnolia and two quite dignified verbascums
now grow in the beds, one from Greece and one from Turkey. A tropical
hibiscus from California is blooming in shameless reds and making no
apologies about it. And I'm very pleased to say that when I peeked through
the plants to get a good close look at what was going on, I noticed oxalis
flava from Australia had worked its way into the beds. I remember from the
discussion about it there were some who might not be thrilled but I look
forward to its blooming every year and was glad to see it would be making
this garden its home too. I don't think it will be hard to keep in check at
all. :-)
