Variegated agapanthus et al

Greetings from Santa Cruz, California

Just wanted to let you know about a great group of plants
growing in my window boxes quite near the Monterey Bay in California.

They may be rather pedestrian but I think they go well together
and they certainly are low-maintenance.

They are planted in potting soil from the local nursery
and are watered once every three or four weeks.
They are not being fertilized and are free of disease and pests.

They have withstood salt-laden fog, dessicating wind and a short heat-wave.

They are:
Anagallis monelli- tough to describe but very beautiful with 4 green-grey
leaves in whorls every inch or two around an angular stem and true deep
blue flowers at each leaf node. At 10 inches, it's rangey but compact.

Agapanthus 'Tinkerbell'- about 12 inches tall with long thin leaves that
are white on the edges and green in the center. It is supposed to have rich
blue bell-shaped flowers but they haven't bloomed yet. The foliage is
wonderful.

Seline vulgaris 'Maritima'- very low growing and forms a cushion of
grey-green foliage. Its double white flowers with balloon-like inflated
calyxs cascade over the sides of the windowboxes so folks looking up get a
great show.

That's it for now!
Take care-
Nancy
