Does anyone know what the plant is that's posted on the address above?
I've had it labeled for about a year as "wild thistle" but would like to
be more accurate, especially since I now suspect it may not be a thistle
at all.

Cundi:
Looks like a Cirsium (= "thistle") to me. Possibly Cirsium mohavense,
C. californicum, or C. neomexicanum. Hard to be 100% with a head-on
view like that.
