Over a year ago I planted Polygonum baldschuanicum under a coastal oak in my
garden. No water, no attention. I looked today and what did I see? It had
climbed to the top of the tree (18-20 ft) and was descending everywhere. In
fact, in some places it had landed on the ground and was crawling in all
directions."Quick, John, the Flit." (You have to be over 60 to get that
allusion.)
There are no blossoms (when do they arrive?). It is as healthy as all
getout.
Can you tell me anything about your experience with it? Will it bloom?
Obviously I do not need help on its cultivation. I know it is sometimes
called 'Mile a Minute Vine' or 'Russian Disaster'. Should I be concerned?
Sorry, it is from Iran and not the Med. But help, please. Bill Grant,
central California coast.
