Lucky you! Alfalfa hay should make a fine mulch. However, be prepared
for it to break down fairly quickly into lovely humus, as it is usually
higher in nitrogen than ordinary hay and much higher than most
straws.(in fact the high nitrogen means some people use it as an N
source in compost heaps).
