Alessandra. One of my favouite plants too. We grew them in the nursery 30
years ago and they flowered well. No one wanted them.
I began again a couple of years back. No one wanted one. People would prefer
a H. rosa sinensis.
E. macrocarpa does well too, a little less compact but with the same
marvellous silver leaves and huge flowers. Like most plants to an extent
perhaps they may need mycorrhizal help to get going, but they both seem easy
to germinate and grow here in Mallorca.
Try for seed -- P.B. Dow & Co, Gisborne, New Zealand. Can't find
their catalogue but that should reach them.
We have sold the house with the persimmon, so people won't have that
nasty mess to walk in unless their appetite is voracious
