Hi folks,
while visiting an old garden near the Naples area (the royal "English"
gardens at Caserta) I came across what looked - from far away, I was not
allowed to get closer- very much like a long stemmed Pandanus (but it could
have been perhaps a Dracena), with apple green strap leaves and astonishing
lilac (I really mean the color of Syringa vulgaris or Wistaria floribunda)
flowers. These latter were inflorescences, that resembled those of
Cordyline australis, and were slightly drooping. The plants were grown near
a water feature, and were quite striking.
The head gardener had no idea as to what they are, neither - he said- did
the various experts from many bot. gardens that visited them in the past.
Anybody out there who has a clue?
Thank you very much,
Alessandra
