sanseveria

I've seen sanseveria growing in the ground in nursery shade houses and always been fascinated by the sight of those tall, pointed leaves curving slightly as they reach skyward.  I have an opportunity to plant them in a mass, along the outer wall of a friend's home,  beneath a window and under a heavy trellis where there is bright light but no direct sun.  I know my pot grown sanseverias are very drought tolerant (if they are watered four times a year, that would be generous), can I assume the same when growing them in the ground?  Any suggestions or experience growing them this way? 

BTW, this garden never freezes and seldom if ever nears freezing.
