Liz, that is great information about nepeta,
thanks.
Nan, I am with Joe, most nepeta I have grown
have needed shearing or pinching to look good and can flop over, but I do
know a plant you might like, Origanum dictamnus, Dittany of Crete. It
makes a neat little mound and gets wonderful ornamental flower
bracts that cover the foliage and last all season and then can be sheared
off. It then returns to it's fuzzy round
grey foliage. It can take the heat and sun and is drought
tolerant. I also like Artemisia
schmidtiana 'Silver Mound' as a front border plant. It stays compact and
neat. Or how about a thyme, lots of choices there.
