Another photo and description of Athanasia can be found on the Suncrest
Nurseries website:
http://suncrestnurseries.com/descript/athanasia.html
Suncrest is a wholesale nursery in Watsonville, California that has a
marvelous collection of nifty plants available for sale to people in the
landscape fields. Their website is well worth a browse even for those who
can't make it to the nursery itself.

For those unfamiliar with this wonderful plant:

I've pruned some of the longest branches back about half it after flowering
with good success. I first did this in order to clean up damage (sited near
a children's playground). Later, I tried to pinch the tips in fall/winter
to encourage bushiness (it still seems inclined towards being a bit leggy).
But the foliage and form always attracts attention - looking very
creature-like or something belonging undersea!
