RE: Cape Chestnut


Well, it can be pretty brittle in my experience. I planted 7 in my college garden about 10 yrs ago. But as to the lack of flowers I think you must have gotten a dud. All of ours, seed raised flower reasonably well, some more so than others. Do you get enough hot, dry days to adequately ripen the wood so that it will flower in late autumn/ winter. I’m unclear about if or how cutting raised stuff performs but obviously seed raised specimens can be variable.
