Calathea spp. maybe somthing related to Calathea insignis. flowers similar but leaves different.. might be conditions being grown under.

A friend sent this picture hoping for an ID help from me.

I have no idea what it is.

I'm hoping someone who sees this will have some idea.

The friend says, "It took a long time to get to this point!"

That may mean it is not planted as it normally grows, like a water plant, growing in dirt.
