Some keen Medits might not yet have come across
two books that deal in a reasonably comprehensive
way with gardening in a Mediterranean climate, and
the Mediterranean Garden Society.
1) Mediterranean Gardening - A waterwise
approach. By Heidi Gildermeister 1995. Editorial Moll
Torre de l'Amor 4 Palma de Mallorca. A comprehensive
book dealing especially with the problems of water
shortage. Well illustrated. Interesting for the aficionado.
2) The Mediterranean Gardener By Hugo
Latymer 1990. Frances Lincoln 4, Torriano Mews,
Torriano Avenue London NW5 2RZ. Not very different.
More perhaps a beginners book. Modesty restrains me
further!
3) The Mediterranean Garden Society. In two
years has grown to near 1000 members.
A charming black and white quarterly Magazine is
produced with excellent drawings mainly by Derek Toms
and holds an interesting and useful selection of articles
on all aspects of gardening in a Mediterranean climate.
Secretary, PO Box 14, Peania 190 02 Greece
Sub $25/year. Non profit making.
