They don't need a freeze, this is a myth. (A similar myth exists about
persimmons).
As long as the fruit is good and ripe, it can blet indoors as well as
long as you keep it in a cool place and it doesn't dry out. Here, they
often start bletting right on the tree, well before we get our first
frost.
