Hi Tim
Well. the tree duely left for its new home sticking out over the back of
their farm utility truck (Ute in local parlance). The tip was festooned
with bright rags, though as Pat said if anybody ran into it they would
be far too close!!

Next time I garden I will be moving another small tree into its place,
but it is going to involve disentangling its roots from "Devil's Guts"
which I do NOT want to spread to a new part of the garden.

Today however (the shortest day, I think) there is overcast and finest
misty showers, but it is remarkably warm, our outside thermometer is
reading about 8 C.

This other tree an heirloom apple Called Egremont Russet. It has
delicious spicy fruits, but has never done well where it is living -too
shady, I think.

I get a bit confused with your weather, are we talking of summer or
winter??

Moira
