We've never had a problem. I think people grow great tomatoes back east also where all
water comes out of the sky in the summer. My feeling is that plants like to have their
leaves washed off some. Of course, we have an extremely dry climate, and the leaves dry
off again in a short time. Usually the pattern is to give them about 3 inches (7+cm) of
irrigation approximately once a week. When the temps are like the last couple of
days--today 106F (41C)--then the days between waterings may be less.
