Dear David,
I think the expert botanists would agree with me that there is a great deal
of variation in the plant life of even this typical Med. area [Cote d'Azur].
The micro climates one hears about. On the north side of the higher ground
and down the clefts and gullies of the limestone one sees things more suited
to cooler damper conditions. I know of a river near Nice which runs through a
small gorge and has each side covered in ferns[don't know which as I didn't
get time to identify.], as well as other damp and shade lovers.
Unfortunately all my more specific information on this subject is still in my
computer which suffered a direct lightening strike on Christmas Day.
For my own, selfish part I don't mind "off subject" as long as it is
interesting, and everything is....so far :)
