Re: New Med Book

Just to second Tim's recommendation of Rackam & Grove's book on the
Mediterranean landscape. It largely concentrates on S Spain, S Italy and
Sicily, and Crete, and draws much of the information on the last area from
Rackham's earlier fascinating book with Jennifer Moody: "The making of the
Cretan landscape" (Manchester University Press, 1996). As Tim says, it's a
scholarly tome but not at all written in a "dryasdust" academic style. It's
available in the U.S. for about $70, which admittedly is not a cheap read.
The Cretan book is less costly but just as good a read.
