I'm growing Aloe suprafoliata which I started from seed from Silverhill
Seeds two years ago. The one specimen I didn't mistreat is now perhaps 40cm
in diameter. It seems rather undemanding. Silverhill Seeds has dozens of
Aloes and allies for sale.
Speaking of scrounging, one of my neighbors tossed half a dozen Aloes of
some sort onto the yard waste heap the other day, fortunately I saw and
rescued them. Perhaps I'll have to ask this group to help ID them. Look out
for some 10 Mb e-mail bombs. Just kidding. Also, I recall there is a
cacti-succulent mailing group but they seem pretty strictly interested in
indoor culture.
