Hey, Steve, I'm from Sebastopol. Is it Analy High? The first plant that
popped into my head was Viburnum Tinus 'Spring Bouquet'.  Only grows to 6'X
6', so it wouldn't be a constant pruning chore, makes flowers and berries,
too.  Laurus nobilis gets huge, so does Arbutus unedo with time, and tends
to lose its lower leaves. Myrtus communis would work. Another idea would be
Heteromeles arbutifolia, our native Toyon.
