While furnishing your friend with a grwn tree would be beyond me, it is
quite often possible to buy  Metrosderos seed from a garden centre here.
It may be a while before I can track some down, but I would be happy to
get some if they would like it. I don't believe it is difficult to
raise.

If this idea appeals, perhaps you could furnish me with an address to
post it to. 

By the way, I presume winter temps where you friend's property is
situated don't fall much below freezing, as while this species will take
a few degrees of frost it really prefers a frost-free climate and if the
winter is too chilly may not grow or flower well. Although mature trees
are more hardy in the young stages it is quite tender and a heavy or
unseasonable frost can easily kill it.
