unknown plant, (out of our area?)

I know that although many people specialize in a certain group of plants, they often have plants that do not fit their primary group. They thus have information that is out of the area of their specialty.
So, since I really have almost no information about this peperomia plant I would like to find the species if anyone recognize it. It may grow in a Mediterranean area but I doubt it. Does this plant tickle anyones fancy?
