There are a few resources for growing plants in the northern Chihuahuan
desert area.
First of all, the late Barton Warnock of Sul Ross State University published
three field guides of western Texas that give a lot of information on plants
that do well there. I don't know if they are being printed, but they seem
to be available:

Second, you should visit the University of Texas El Paso Chihuahuan Desert
garden web site:

Then check out nurseries like Mountain States in Arizona, Yucca-Do near
Houston, and McNeal Growers of Austin, Texas.
