What I did was to stick the end of the top I cut off in a pot with
damp sand. I cut off most of the foliage (mostly to prevent it being
blown over or rocking loose). The left over bit of trunk with still
clinging bark I cut off, and planted sideways in the ground with part
of it above soil line. It will be interesting to see what happens.
