The 'weed' looks somewhat like 'Gandula' which to my eye generally does
look like a weed when young but it is used quite alot here for hedging. It
has an insignificant white flower on it. I don't know the botanical or
English name but I think word Gandula comes from Arabic influence in
Spanish. It could well be growing on Malta because it doesn't need water
once established. But, I could be wrong...................! The rose I can't
help you with but its very pretty.
