This is a little off topic but not too terribly much

We have been talking about the joys/curses associated with Brazilian pepper.  I did a consultation today on a terribly neglected property that is inundated with sprouts from Brazilian peppers.  There must have been a big tree at some point that is long gone, but the root sprouts are everywhere!

How in the world do we get rid of them?  Any suggestions?
