Re: Capparis spinosa

Hawaii's endemic caper is about the same. growing on the west to south west side of the major Hawaiian islands.  Huge seed pod.   most fragrant flowers I have ever smelled.  Has problem with white rust of crucifers (Albugo).  Suspect this disease will be bad if grown too wet.

I think it has been germinated here in almost a pure perlite or fine black lava rock.  Seems like good drainage is important.   don't know about scarification.....

Subject: Capparis spinosa

Has anyone had any success in germination of Capparis spinosa?  What medium do I use and what time of year do I start? I am getting conflicting advice on the web.
Thanks
Pamela
