if you think about it the redwoods ( and monterey pines and cypresses)
are throwbacks from the last iceage. The reason they only gorw where
they do is as in the case of P. Radiata and C. Macrocarpa they were
trapped in an "environmental" island. However the northern redwoods and
souther redwoods were the same species at one time, but by virtue of
climate changes theyve deviated from eachother. In My opinion it would
only help the gene pool pf the northern redwoods. However from a
conservationist side, the slight differences that make up the Northern
Redwood would be lost due to the genes of the southern redwoods.
