Dear Sean,
I love the site you've put together...I've spent hours reading it!
Jan Smithen has forwarded several email messages that the two of you sent each
other in the past. I appreciate your offer of help in getting our local
group started.
We will have our second meeting soon. The first was at the Garden Show at the
Arboretum when Heidi was in town, which was wonderful timing! I sent out an
announcement flyer to all the Southern California members and also to as many
of the arboretums, gardenig associations, etc that I could find addresses for.
I'm sending you the information on our meeting so that you might put it on
your web site. I'll just copy the text from the flyer and you can edit as you
see fit.
Southern California
Mediterranean Garden Society
Lecture and Meeting
Lecture:
Guest speaker will be local designer Robert Cornell of Robert Cornell &
Associates, Inc. His topic will be "The New California Garden." Learn how to
transform your yard into a more colorful and exciting garden, filled with
flowers throughout the year. Also see how to integrate indoor and outdoor
spaces for better use and enjoyment.
Meeting:
MGS will hold its second local chapter meeting following the lecture. The
society, with headquarters in Greece, focuses on sharing information and
experiences in designing and constructing gardens suited to the Mediterranean
climate and lifestyle, and on the use of plants in garden design. The society
publishes a quarterly journal written by and for members and relays news,
notices, and practical information on the challenges of gardening in areas
with mild, humid winters and long, hot, dry summers. All interested garden
lovers are invited to be a part of the formation of the local chapter of this
exciting gardening group.

Thank you for helping to spread the word about our fledgling chapter; we'd
like to reach as many people as possible, and your site is a great way to
accomplish this goal!
Thanks again!
