Syagurus was Re(2): Roystonea

I couldn't agree more.  We had a 5 day spell of dessicating,
penetrating, cold but not freezing, easterly winds in early January.
This did far more damage to the Syagurus than the rest of the winter
put together.  A clump of 3 Washingtonia filifera only a few feet away
sailed through with barely a scorch mark to be seen and Phoenix
canariensis in a very much more exposed spot didn't notice it at all
and has carried on growing regardless.  Brahea armata was not bothered
by this either.
