One day's worth of continuous hot wind has killed a number of
established plants in our garden, including hardies such as broom,
strawberry trees and rosemary. The timing was unfortunate - we have had
an exceptionally wet Spring, and many plants with new sappy growth have
been caught off guard. I used to think the limiting factor for plant
survival in our area was Summer draught. Clearly this hairdryer effect
is another potent method of sorting out the men from the boys.
