Hi everyone!
I planted a crepe myrtle last year, trained as a tree. It went
dormant come winter time and thought the rest of the garden is going
gangbusters, the c.m. has been in a state of suspended dormancy -- or
so I thought. I hacked my way into the area where it is planted
today and discovered that the trunk and branches are still bare but
there is plenty of bottom growth, to at least 2 feet tall. funny
thing is, just a few weeks ago, I was thinking that I should have
purchased a shrubby or multi-trunking c.m. rather than a standard.
So, now I guess I got what I wanted!
So, shall I cut off the 6' tall trunk that seems dead and let the
plant become a bush? Any other suggestions?
Nan
