Re: Asphodeline lutea

I'm days behind in clearing out my email, so just encountered this
discussion.

Asphodeline lutea is commonly available at retail nurseries in western
Oregon, and I've grown it for a number of years. Though a native of low
elevations around the Mediterranean, my plants are hardy to at least
-15 C (10F), and long-lived, building into a nice clump.

My oldest plants are growing at the top of a rock wall with other
plants requiring minimal irrigation. Given several waterings from
late spring through mid-summer, A. lutea blooms in late spring
[now] and usually reblooms in late summer. The only maintenance
is removing the spent seed spikes.

I have grown seedlings a couple of times from my original plants: When
sown outdoors in mid-winter (December to early January), the seed usually
germinates in early March.
