Hola, one and all...
Went looking on the web for the address of a local Botanical Garden and it
took almost 30 minutes - could have found it in the phone book faster but
that seemed so... quaint...
Several questions come from this:
1. Does anyone know of a fairly comprehensive, up to date, database listing
botanical gardens of the US - or even just of California? AABGA lists
thirty seven gardens for the whole of the US... must be a "work in
progress"? Or would it be a "work in degresss"? University of Michigan
Extension has a much more complete list, but I noticed all the LA area
gardens have a 213 area code marking that list as over 10 years old at
least; some codes have changed TWICE from 213. Also, I noticed that the
driving directions for the local UCLA Botanical Garden will set you down
somewhere off in Palm Springs, which will surprize many of us on the UCLA
campus who walk there everyday.
2. If such a list did exist, or a person took it upon himself to so create
such a list - would members of this list find it helpful? And
3. Having computer access to such a list, would there be any interest to
have said list available in a format that could be downloaded and used in a
Palm or other handheld device?
I thank all of you in advance for your suggestions and comments in
advance...
