Syrah or Shiraz grapes grow here in the Barossa Valley as small bushes
with no supports. They are not irrigated in summer so the vines are very
compact. Pinot meunier is another grape variety that does not climb much
and is also treated as a bush. There could also be local Sicilian grape
vars to grow likewise. The Barossa vines produce some of our top class
reds as fruit quality of very high, even tho each bush doesn't bear
heavily.
