My plants have never set seed that I know of, yet do
always exhibit a two tone color effect between the
calyx and petals, which although subtle is clearly
visible at all stages of the flower, as far as I can
recall. (It is dark outside as I write this, and I am
too lazy to check if the flowers do appear different
in young bud compared to senescence...) The color
difference is not as marked as in S. mexicana
'Limelight', but is obvious enough to be a feature.
It is one of the more attractive features, along with
heavy continuous bloom in sun or shade, and great use
as a cut flower,(although they don't last that long).
The hummingbirds seem to really enjoy this one as
well.
