It's interesting and it is a frightening notion to
think of the gulf stream slowing down (however that
thread there caused a very conservative gent to call
everyone losers who were concerned about it.)

Anyway, there's also evidence that the Monterey Bay
has warmed a few degrees:

What's interesting about the Monterey Bay study is the
80 years of water temperature data, combined with a
study done in the 1930's and then repeated exactly the
same recently. 

For those who don't want to read it: essentially 8 of
9 southern California species have moved into the bay
and the tidepools, while the numbers of northern
species have moved out (Monterey Bay is in an area
that is sort of a meeting place between warm
(relatively speaking) water species and cold water species).
