Hello friend gardeners!
My neighbors are quite frustrated with their efforts at gardening beneath a
substantial camphor tree. According to my books, camphor has a competiteve
root system that makes them "a poor choice for garden beds."
Unfortunately, this is exactly what my neighbors want. Can anyone tell us
a)if there are anyother well-known problems with gardening beneath camphor
trees, i.e. are they allelopathic? and
b) Do you know of any perennials or shrubs that WILL grow beneath the
camphor trees? We live in Southern California, Sunset zone 24, USDA zone
10 b.
Thanks!
Nan
