Dear medit-plants subscribers,

   I have changed the medit-plants list to one that confirms new
subscriptions.  Now, if someone is subscribed without permission they will
know about it and can take the appropriate action.  This will solve some of
the recent problems with medit-plants.

   The other problem with messages repeating and "bouncing" is a more
difficult one.  With the increasing number of people worldwide changing
their email addresses (sometimes with no choice), the subscriber file to
medit-plants is a mess.  I received more than 300 error messages they other
day because of "bounced" email messages.  I can't keep up with them and am
considering changing the list configuration so that email addresses causing
a bounce are automatically unsubscribed.  This will certainly help my "in"
box and it may help solve the weird bouncing problems some of you have
reported.  If you have an opinion on this idea, please let me know.  Please
use my email address (dwburger@ucdavis.edu) rather than the list address to
express your opinion on this.  Thanks!
